About Guangzhou

Guangzhou is the capital city of Guangdong Province in the southern part of the P. R. China. The city is also known by an older English name, Canton. It is a port on the Pearl River, and located about 120 km (75 miles) northwest of Hong Kong. The favorable geographical environment has helped to make Guangzhou what it is today: a city with a unique style and characteristic that will be eternal in its greatness.

After the opening and reform adopted in 1978, Guangzhou has become the southern gateway to exchanges between the inland and foreign countries. Giving full play to the extensive overseas in human relations, and geographical merits, Guangzhou took the lead in opening up to the outside world, intensifying the reform so that the economy has gained high-speed development.

The most famous part of Guangzhou culture is its so-called diet culture. As the old Chinese saying goes, Eating in Guangzhou, Cantonese cuisine enjoys a variety of traditional local food and has attracted the world by its own characteristics.
