Speaker Introduction

Course I: Chinese Languge

Speaker: Chang LIU

Chang LIU is a lecturer of Chinese in the School of Chinese as a second language. She taught Chinese in WidyaKartikaUniversity in Surabaya, Indonesia. LIU’s research interests include Chinese teaching as a foreign language, Chinese modern culture, and multimedia teaching in Chinese.

Speaker: Yuning ZHENG

Yuning ZHENG began her undergraduate studies at Jinan University, China in 1999, and received her master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of Sheffield, UK in 2004. She is currently a teacher at the School of Chinese as a Second Language, Sun Yat-sen University. Her research interests include Second Language Teaching Methods, Chinese Semantic and Chinese Culture.

Course II: China Business Study

Speaker: Xin ZHENG                                

Xin ZHENG is an assistant professor of Lingnan (University) College, Sun Yat-Sen University. She got the doctoral degree of Management from South China University of Technology, China and joint Ph.D. program, Babson College, USA. She teaches strategic management and entrepreneurship related courses for IMBA, graduates and undergraduates. Her research fields are corporate entrepreneurship and organizational learning.

Speaker: Yanmei ZHANG

Yanmei ZHANG is the Vice President of Lingnan (University) College, Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). She received her Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from SYSU, her Master of Linguistics degree from the University of Leicester, and her Master of Administration degree for Industry and Commerce from the University of Nottingham. Her research interests include cross-cultural management and MBA education.

Songhua HU is currently working as Associate Professor in Management at Lingnan College, Sun Yat-sen University; Received Ph. D. degree from the University of Cincinnati, U.S. Worked as a visiting scholar and International Faculty Fellow at Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology during 2003 & 2006; Instructed graduate and undergraduates at two American universities and two Chinese universities; Published three books in English, and a large number of academic articles in both domestic and international journals.

Speaker: Henry LIAO

Henry Liao, Member of China Lawyer’s Association and New York State Bar Association. He got the Juris Doctor in University of Michigan Law School. He is also the advisor of International Advising Board, McGeorge School of Law and Special Advisor, China Chamber of International Commerce. His specialty: Mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investment, construction projects, project financing, non-performing loans, securities, general corporate practice, and intellectual property.

Speaker: Yanming WANG

Yanming WANG is a professor and doctorial tutor of Lingnan (University) College, Sun Yat-Sen University. He has the Bachelor degree of Science, Master degree of Science, and degree of Philosophy Doctor. His research fields are financial market, financial engineering, and investment risk analysis and risk management. He has been a visiting professor to Sloan Management School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Minnesota, City University of New York, Magdeburg University (Germany), the Australian National University. He served as expert in many agencies of government and business institutes.

Speaker: Shenjiang MO

Shenjiang Mo is a Ph.D., Assistant Professor in Lingnan College, Sun Yat-sen University. He was a visiting scholar in Henley Business School, University of Reading, UK during 2009-2010. He is a member of Academy of Management (AOM), European Group for Organization Studies (EGOS) and International Association for Chinese Management Research (IACMR). He teaches courses, such as business ethics and leadership, justice and social responsibility. His research interests include ethical leadership, ethical decision making, and team learning. He has published several articles in Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Management and Organization.


Course III: Chinese Politics and Cultural Study

Speaker: Fan DAI
is a Professor in the Department of English, School of Foreign Languages, SunYat-sen University (SYSU). She holds a Ph.D. degree in Linguistics, a Master’s degree of Fine Arts in creative writing, a Master’s degree in English and American Language and Literature, and another Master’s degree in Human Geography. Her research interests include stylistics and discourse analysis. She is also interested in tourism studies, cultural studies and creative writing in both Chinese and English. She has traveled extensively both in China and abroad. 

Speaker: Jing ZHAO
is a Lecturer in the Department of English, School of Foreign Languages, SYSU. She earned her doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction, specializing in English as a Second Language, from Texas A&M University, USA. Dr. ZHAO’s research interests include differences in literacy development between EFL (foreign language) learners of English and native (first language) English speakers, as well as the influence of children’s native language and other internal and external factors on their second language literacy development. As a native of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, she grew up with a variety of dialects and languages around her.

Chenguang CHANG
is a Professor in the English Department, School of Foreign Languages, SYSU. His research interests include functional linguistics, applied linguistics, English education, and intercultural communication.

Speaker: Lin YE

Dr. Lin YE is an associate Professor in Department of Public Administration, School of Government, SYSU. He received his PhD in University of Louisville. His research interests are Public Administration, Urban Management, Statistics and Comparative Urban Development.

Speaker: Xiaoyan WU

Xiaoyan WU is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English, School of Foreign Languages, Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). She holds a Ph.D. Diploma in Western Literal and Cultural Criticism and a Master’s degree of English Linguistics and Literature. She was a visiting scholar in the City University of Hong Kong (2005-2006) and worked as the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute of Autonomous University of Yucatan, Mexico (2009-2012). Currently she is also the Deputy Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office of Sun Yat-sen University and Director of the Office for International Students’ Affairs.  

Speaker: Xinping CHANG
Xinping CHANG
received her Ph.D. degree in Applied Linguistics in 1996 in Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. She is now Associate Professor of Linguistics in the Department of English, School of Foreign Languages, SYSU. Her research interests include second language acquisition, language testing, discourse analysis and cross-cultural communication.


Speaker: Wing Kit CHAN

Dr. Chan is Lecturer of social policy in the Chinese Center for Public Management Research. He is also acting as the acting director for International Collaboration Office of the School of Government. Dr. CHAN finished his Ph.D. in Social Policy at the University of York, England and has been very keen in researching higher education policies and social assistance policies in China.  

Speaker: Zhonghua GUO
Speaker Introduction: Prof Zhonghua GUO is the head of Department of Political Science, School of Government, SYSU. He received his PhD in Fudan University. He was a visiting scholar of Sheffield University in 2009. His research focuses mainly in political science theory, citizenship, Chinese government and politics.
